Our client, a global academic publisher, is looking to recruit a Senior Journal Publishing Manager to manage the ongoing development of a list of society owned journals in the subject areas of Social Science and Humanities.
Reporting to the Publisher, the Senior Journal Publishing Manager will be responsible for the financial and editorial management of approximately 20 titles in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Supporting academic editors to ensure high quality content is maintained
- Ensuring that the company meets all contractual commitments for clients
- Responsibility for the financial performance of titles
- Researching and implementing ideas for developing content, revenue and profitability
- Developing new revenue streams outside of traditional commissioning
- Contributing towards team and company targets for growing revenue and profit
- Enhancing the company’s reputation within the relevant subject communities
- Travelling within the UK and overseas in the fulfilment of your duties.
The successful candidate will have experience managing academic journals and of fronting editor and editorial board meetings. Experience of managing society relationships would be beneficial. They will have knowledge of journal publishing processes and issues, along with strong negotiation, written and oral communication skills. Knowledge or interest in the disciplines of Social Sciences and Humanities is desirable.
