Our client is a world-leading society publisher based in Oxford. As a (Senior) Society Publishing Manager, you’ll manage and develop around 10-15 partnerships, helping a diverse group of societies to spread knowledge, advance their discipline, and expand their community. Working collaboratively with smart, friendly and highly skilled colleagues across a global organisation, you will enjoy unrivalled scope to develop your skills in communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship building. Championing excellent service, you will proactively ensure that relationships with existing partners prosper. Crucially, you’ll also make an important contribution to the strategic development of the portfolio, working on new business opportunities, from community focussed events and initiatives, to signing new society partnerships.
You will have proven experience of working in publishing, in academic research, or within a society, with a flair for building productive relationships. Highly driven and well-organised, you will have a strong focus on achieving goals. You will bring excellent communication skills and a winning personality to the role. Core responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining excellent relationships with external partners
- Taking responsibility for successful renewal or renegotiation of contracts
- Managing financial performance including budgeting and expenditure decisions
- Attending editorial board and society meetings, hosting strategy session and presenting formal publisher reports
- Assisting with commissioning and new business development, where appropriate.
