We are looking for a Senior Editor to join an independent publisher of illustrated books based in London. This is an excellent opportunity for an editor or assistant editor looking to grow their experience in illustrated books to and contribute to the management and development of a growing list covering reference, popular culture, popular science, and practical health and well-being.

 

Key duties:

  • Manage the editorial process for all new titles in production
  • Schedule and oversee the editorial workflow in order to maintain timely publication
  • Work closely with authors, freelancers and designers to ensure high standards of content are delivered on all projects
  • Assist in the development and commissioning of new proposals
  • Responsible for quality control of all aspects of projects including AI sheets and promotional materials
  • Support the Publishing Director and manage an assistant editor

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid experience in an editorial role in illustrated trade non-fiction publishing
  • Excellent flat-planning skills and knowledge of InDesign and the co-edition process
  • Strong visual eye and a good working knowledge of copy-editing and proofreading standards
  • Experience of working to tight publication schedules and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • A team player with a collaborative approach and passion for illustrated book publishing

Our client is prestigious society based within the STM arena. With offices in both London and US, due to growth plans for the business they are now looking to recruit an International Senior Account Manager to drive the business and sales forward globally for both print and digital products .

This role will be based in the UK office but with extensive International travel so the successful candidate must be prepared to travel for a large quantity of the year. Our client, a leading and highly successful international trade publishing group, seeks a hungry and very capable Sales Director to manage sales of their UK Childrens trade division (illustrated childrens books).

The Sales Director reports to the Group Sales Director. In our view, this is a unique super career opportunity for an individual with the talent and sales organisational ability to hands-on lead a small childrens sales team and help the publisher build and develop their UK sales to the full potential.

Overview of the Role;

You’ll manage all the UK trade childrens sales, selling a highly successful and well regarded range of quality non-fiction illustrated trade childrens and family reference books and imprints that sell in all markets

Accounts you’ll personally look after include all the key high street retail chains, key bookshop chains, supermarkets accounts and the leading wholesale specialists

You’ll have responsibility for all childrens divisions sales forecasting, budget and print runs

You’ll also manage one experienced direct report sales person who covers the other key accounts

The Sales Director will be the voice of childrens sales, and will have the opportunity to get involved with the senior publishing teams and imprints to contribute fully on book acquisitions

Part of this role is also to conduct regular childrens book market research to seek new business opportunities and new accounts when possible

You’ll also work closely with group marketing and publicity Heads on key account campaigns

Skills required: Proven key account sales experience and possessing a good commercial mindset and be open and keen to always seek new business opportunities for your business  

Experience required; 5 years in trade or related trade ideally childrens books and good knowledge of childrens key trade accounts.

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative, proactive and highly organised Marketing Officer to play a key role in our busy consumer marketing team, devising and implementing effective campaigns across our list.  

 

As well as planning and overseeing all elements of your campaigns you will write high-impact copy, brief our in-house design team and external agencies, manage campaign budgets, develop partnerships with third parties and co-ordinate consumer marketing activity at events.  

 

Working with our Digital Marketing Officer you will co-ordinate the digital marketing elements of your campaigns, including social media and blogger activity, the creation of videos and trailers, and campaign mini-sites and email newsletters.

 

We’re looking for a creative individual with plenty of ideas for campaigns that will engage readers and drive sales. The position requires a passion for children’s books and publishing, therefore candidates will need to have previous publishing and/or experience working with key children’s brands.

 

You will have a strong background in marketing, be an excellent communicator, and adept at juggling a range of projects and deadlines, with proven skills across a range of social media platforms and basic website CMS systems. Basic video creation and editing skills and design skills for creating social media content are desirable.
