In this new position, you will drive their business forward and will develop new commercial opportunities for both books and journals, in print and digital formats. Leading the sales strategy on account management and new business development, you will report to the Chief Executive and will be a key member of the Executive Management Group.

eBook Distribution Coordinator

The opportunity

We are looking for an eBook Distribution Coordinator, who will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining Bloomsbury’s global eBook inventory, both within the business and at various retail and institutional eBook vendor partners. The role will involve working with colleagues from all over the business, from Editorial and Production to Sales and Marketing, as well as with external partners, so candidates will need to have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Experience in digital publishing is desirable for the role, as is a good working knowledge of Excel.

The role

  • Distribute the Bloomsbury eBook inventory to worldwide vendors and assist with any issues they may have in processing those eBooks
  • Work with internal colleagues to ensure that all eBooks are delivered to retailers on time and in good quality
  • Monitor worldwide vendor inventories and work with those vendors to ensure their individual eBook inventories are being processed and made for sale correctly
  • Assist external vendors with ingestion and distribution errors and work with internal colleagues to remedy those errors
  • Communicate progress and information on the department to colleagues around the company
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports on the status of the eBook inventory
  • Assist with vendor and sales queries that require distribution to take place outside of the standard distribution systems
  • Analyse data to improve the available inventory and increase sales
  • Reconcile inventory information received from vendors, and provide analysis to colleagues within the company
  • Field internal and external queries with diplomacy and clarity
  • Contribute to training programmes for new starters

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Intermediate experience of Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrate excellent time-management skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Some experience with Data analysis
  • An interest in Digital Publishing

 

Desirable

  • Experience with Content/Asset Management Systems such as Biblio, DAM, Coresource or Collection Point
  • Knowledge of ebook metadata standards, e.g. ONIX, BIC
  • Knowledge of ebook quality standards (e.g. ePub 4.0.2, iBooks Transporter, Kindle requirements, etc.)

Experience / skills required:

  • A firm understanding of print and reprographic processes
  • Strong passion for children publications
  • Solid experience in the production of wide range of books by a variety of suppliers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience in time management/planning
  • Ability to negotiate and interpret printer quotes and margin costings
  • Proven skills in organisation and communication
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to build close working relationships

You will be responsible for project managing up to 15 live books annually, working closely with freelance designers, editors and picture researchers. The successful candidate will ideally have 5+ years in an editorial department, with an understanding of the illustrated book marketplace.

Pan Macmillan is looking for a Rights Assistant to provide administrative support to the Children’s Rights team.

The Children’s Rights Department is responsible for the sale of co-edition and subsidiary rights for the Macmillan Children’s Books, Campbell and Kingfisher imprints around the world. Our lists include award-winning picture books, novelty titles, non-fiction and fiction books.

This role includes:

  •     Administrative support for the sale of all co-edition and subsidiary rights deals, including raising contracts and liaising with accounts to raise invoices
  •     Liaising with customers and the production department regarding customer’s packing, shipping and other post-deal requirements
  •     Keeping the rights database up to date and compiling a monthly sales report
  •     Organization of book fair and sales trip schedules, and arranging material for these trips
  •     Sale and administration of both print and digital permissions
  •     General departmental administration
  •     Attending international book fairs

    The ideal candidate will:

  •     Be fluent in a foreign language
  •     Have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced), Outlook and Word
  •     Be highly organized, work well under pressure and show great attention to detail
  •     Be able to work under his/her own initiative whilst also being a team player
  •     Be well-travelled
  •     Have experience of working in a publishing office 
  •     Have strong communication skills, both written and oral, as well as numeracy skills
