Great opportunity for a database whizz to work closely with the Head of IT and Customer Services for this dynamic publishing company.

To ensure all users of the SalesLogix database receive full database training, user accounts and pick lists are kept up to date. Manage user accounts, purchasing licences for and setting up new users, amending users’ permissions and retiring users as necessary. Mange products, setting up new products and price lists, deactivating older products or amending descriptions. Manage pick-lists, adding or removing options from various pick-lists within the database as agreed with the Sales & marketing director, or Sales managers. Produce monthly subscription reports for all subscription products to monitor data accuracy.

Setting up groups to create mailing or email lists for sales & marketing, as well as lists for customer services. This will require the ability to write SQL queries.

Excellent presentation skills

Great communication skills

Excellent IT skills, including word-processing and spreadsheets

Ability to use and quickly learn various database packages

Experience of creating mailing lists and reports using SQL to query

Our client, a large Higher Education publisher requires a a new Institutional Business Development Manager who will be responsible for market intelligence, sales strategy, process and the HE institutional model for an innovative product portfolio in the US.

With the product team based in the UK, you will be the first team member based in the US to pioneer the sales and business development work for the new portfolio of products. You will lead business development and sales activities for new products aimed to support academic skills and research with big data. You will identify and meet with purchasing decision makers for the HE institution, learn of their needs and work to achieve market fit with the their products. You will also play a key role with the product development team, feeding market intelligence back to base to support the ongoing product development to achieve best product / market fit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building market intelligence to inform sales strategy: Understanding the market and how institutional funding works, identifying target budgets and decision makers, segmenting the market, hypothesis testing different institutional models
  • Responsible for closing sales and achieving a sales target
  • Market intelligence to inform product development – accurately record, synthesise, interpret and share market intelligence back to the team with an eye to optimising product / market fit and product profitability
  • Close collaboration with product teams to make sure that product and sales strategies are aligned
  • Developing and evolve strategic institutional sales plan
  • Building up sales process and pipeline, working with the CRM to grow our database of contacts and prospects, and developing sales collateral, including email templates, proposals, RFP responses, customer licenses. Developing post sales process to understand what is needed to renew and upsell
  • Compelling product demo skills: building a narrative, pitch and demo for digital products and creating compelling content for presentations
  • Collaborating with product teams to develop product pricing strategies, customer implementation and support plans
  • Work within quarterly goals structure to flex to evolving needs and market understanding

Experience:

PURPOSE
As Business Development Manager you will be a key part of the commercial team managing the Jobs in Books platform across print, online, social media, events and email whilst contributing to monthly targets and KPIs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be the key contact for all companies looking to advertise their jobs with Jobs in Books. You will build strong relationships with long standing and valued clients as well as welcoming new advertisers to the platform, ensuring that they are aware of all the advertising options that we offer and how our process works. This is a varied role where you will maintain the Jobs in Books website, upload job adverts online, meet weekly magazine deadlines, manage the @JobsinBooks twitter account and execute the weekly Jobs email. You will also be responsible for championing the Jobs in Books platform to job seekers at events, university visits, talks, through blogs and other initiatives, giving you freedom to be creative and bring new ideas to the table.

Job Profile: We have two exciting vacancies for a London, Thames Valley & Kent Regional Manager (the ideal candidate for this location will preferably be based in Greater London) and a Northern England, Midlands & East Anglia Regional Manager to join our energetic and pro-active regional sales team. Reporting to the UK Regional Manager, you will represent the diverse and highly regarded lists of both the Adult and Children's Publishing divisions, alongside those of our growing Client Publishers.

Your Role:  You will be responsible for selling in our books and representing our authors to a wide range of customers across the designated territory. Working closely with our Publicity and Marketing teams, you will help initiate and attend author events, ensure maximum representation for our authors in bookshops, use social media to promote our books, monitor stock levels and promotional activity across a wide range of retail outlets, provide comprehensive feedback to the company on territory activity and attend regular sales meetings in the London office.

The Candidate’s Profile: You will be a highly-motivated self-starter, a team-player who is able to build great relationships with both colleagues and customers, whilst equally happy to spend periods alone on territory and able to work effectively whilst out in the Field. You will be organised and highly reliable, yet also flexible and able to react to the many and varied demands of the job. You will be passionate about books and able to communicate that passion to your customers, and will show both tenacity and commercial awareness. Great communication skills are essential and a thorough working knowledge of Excel and Word is desirable. Experience of the territory may be an advantage but we welcome all candidates who demonstrably fit the profile. A company car will be provided and a full UK Driving Licence is required.

In this role you will proofread, rewrite copy and write copy in a variety of formats including print, online and digital.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has been working in an STM publishing environment within editorial to take the next step up on the career ladder. You will get to further use your editorial skills in this role, with the added bonus of the material you will be working on is created with the purpose of improving healthcare.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a life sciences background, strong proofreading skills and be adept at project management. Knowledge of CMS systems, Google Analytics and eLearning would also be ideal but are not essential.
