This role would suit a science graduate or an Editorial Assistant in STM publishing.

Key duties:

  • Work on the production of print and online journal titles
  • Liaise with authors and external service providers
  • Redraw graphics in Illustrator with scientific knowledge
  • Create contents and cover pages
  • Approve and upload digital content

Experience / skills required:

  • Strong scientific academic background with passion in STM publishing

The sale of translation rights, directly in Poland and Portugal, and through co-agents in
Eastern Europe and other key territories throughout the world

The Delivery Project Manager is responsible for the project management and workflow associated with delivering a range of print and digital titles for the ELT Division.

Responsibilities include:

  • Budgeting, scheduling and project managing a range of print and digital titles
  • Managing the delivery process and monitoring performance of suppliers
  • Estimating and negotiating costs from various suppliers
  • Accurate recording of information on production systems, and communication with cross-functional teams
  • Define product acceptance criteria, and ensure delivered products are fit for purpose.

  • Support Head of PR and Group Communications Director in the department’s strategy and creative direction
  • Co-ordinate and implement events for HCG (within agreed budget) to promote our books, authors, illustrators and brands, helping to drive sales
  • Manage relationships with key literary festivals, conferences, bookshops and libraries
  • Travel with authors and attend a range of events
  • Help deliver the Hachette Children’s Group awards strategy, in conjunction with the PR team
  • Stay informed about new marketing and publicity insights, developments and opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with the wider PR team.

Skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Substantial experience in publicity of books
  • Strong understanding of how to create and execute effective and successful campaigns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Experience of organising events including launch dinners, parties, stunts, festivals as well as author tours, bookshop, school and library events
  • Demonstrable, creative interpersonal, presentation and organisational qualities
  • A strong network across the publishing industry and excellent relationships with relevant reviewers, children’s press, parenting press, bloggers and other news contacts
  • Outstanding social media and digital marketing skills
  • A passion and knowledge for children’s publishing

Our client, a leading and long-established and well respected award winning London based independent book publisher seeks a Senior Financial Controller or Finance Director (depending on your level of experience) to manage all aspects of Company accounting and bookkeeping.

Reporting to the MD, the Finance Director will manage in-house bookkeeping and have full responsibility for producing quarterly and annual financial reports to the board, you'll also have management of supplier bought ledger, VAT returns, Royalty payments to Authors, stock valuation and oversee the payroll and all other aspects of Company accounting.  

The successful candidate will of course need all the relevant up to date accountant qualifications and bring excellent previous experience as a Company Accountant and have working familiarity with all main accounting software.

Ideally, you'll also have experience of the book publishing industry i.e. an understanding and experience in managing author royalty payments would also be useful in this role.

You’ll be based in London and there is an excellent salary on offer to the right candidate, depending of course on the experience you bring to the role.
