We are currently recruiting for a junior Product Information Controller for a major leading academic publishing company in the Oxford area.   This is a fantastic opportunity for a switched on and and motivated graduate, looking for a career within academic publishing.  This role works as part of the Product Information Team within Production and reports to the Head of Product Information.

The Graduate Product Information Controller will ensure that key metadata for their 100,000 plus product range is up to date and is of the highest standard; is available and feeds across their global partners.

This is an interesting role for a candidate who enjoys questioning information, problem solving and working with data.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the mass creation of new products coming from innovative product developments and acquisitions
  • Become a core member of the data governance operation, ensuring compliance with agreed data standards
  • Work across the organisation to help develop product metadata quality
  • Become a metadata expert, supporting the distribution of product data and XML across global systems
  • Take responsibility for feeding title metadata to global customers in a timely manner
  • Provide management information to ensure key processes perform to expected levels

This is an interesting role for someone who enjoys working with processes and data; someone who is driven and is keen to learn about the publishing industry.  The successful person will be of graduate calibre and will have an interest in working within a data process driven environment, but a role where you will get to question and problem solve.  Full training will be given in this role.  Some knowledge and ability with IT systems including MS Offices packages (Word Excel, PowerPoint), databases would be an advantage.  We would also like to hear from recent graduates who can demonstrate an aptitude for analyses and dealing with metadata, and would like a career within academic publishing.

We are looking for an experienced Publishing Manager with project management and commissioning experience within the educational publishing sector to join their successful Primary Education team on an initial 12-month contract.

The Publishing Manager will oversee the acquisition, commissioning and delivery of the company’s print and digital resources for primary education, focusing particularly on reading books and teaching resources.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the acquisition, research and commissioning of new products each year
  • Delivering overall revenue and profit growth by assisting in development of the lists’ 3-year plan
  • Timely delivery of multi-component projects to budget
  • Recruiting and managing authors, contributors and freelancers
  • Disseminating key product information to sales & marketing
  • Inputting on the sales and marketing products’ launch strategies
  • Ensuring products meet objectives outlined at acquisition, working with editorial and digital teams
  • Actively monitoring the market and sharing market knowledge with in-house teams
  • Building and maintaining key industry relationships
  • Effectively managing stock levels

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant commissioning and list management experience
  • Strong editorial experience in educational publishing
  • Project management experience, across print & digital
  • Managed and worked with teams of authors and freelancers
  • Experience working with other in-house departments
  • Engaging and clear communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking and organisational skills
  • Confidence managing and leading projects

This role would suit an experienced editorial professional with commissioning experience in the education sector who is a problem solver and lateral thinker with a proactive approach, looking for a new challenge as part of a strong editorial team.

Based in Holborn, the successful candidate will be responsible for selling the Murdoch illustrated non-fiction list across a number of territories. This is an ideal opportunity to develop and progress within a specialist team, selling a range of beautiful food and lifestyle titles.

 

The Murdoch Rights & Co-edition Manager will be responsible for developing the co-edition business and managing key business relationships. Negotiating, preparing and administering agreements, employing market knowledge with a view to building on existing relationships, as well as to proactively seek out new opportunities to maximise sales.

 

The successful candidate will have proven experience in selling co-edition rights, with strong negotiation and customer relationships bskills. Languages are not essential but are desirable and an understanding of trade non-fiction publishing would be beneficial. This is a busy role, so candidates must be flexible, able to multi-task and prioritise calmly and efficiently, using strong verbal and written communication skills.

Learning Technologist

Our client, a prestigious membership body in Central London, is looking for a Learning Technologist for a 12 month contract.

 

They are developing a digital learning platform to replace the existing one and are kicking off the project for the platform and getting the content on it at present. This role will manage the development of content with external suppliers and internal authors and subject matter experts. You will plan, scope, design and produce engaging digital learning materials, apply instructional design methodologies and knowledge of self-directed and guided learning to plan the development of digital learning materials.

 

Knowledge of Storyline would be ideal but not essential. As there may be some video delivery involved, video editing would be ideal but again not essential.

 

This role would suit someone who has had some experience of online learning content and would like to take a next step to further their career. A genuine interest in online learning will be key to the success in this role.

A leading Music Publisher is looking for an Editor to join their offices in central London. This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate with proven editorial experience and musical interest to join their educational department. This is full time permanent role.

 

Key duties:

  • Responsible for editing and managing the publication process of a list of digital and print educational products
  • Keep abreast with industry news and identify new commercial opportunities for publications
  • Project manage the publication process and ensure that it’s to budget and schedule
  • Cooperate closely with marketing and production departments

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid experience in an editorial role within educational publishing is essential
  • Hands on knowledge of digital publishing and different formats
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • High level communication and networking skills
  • Experience working with musical content, music teaching experience or knowledge of music would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of Sibelius and Adobe Creative suite would be desirable
